ADVANCE NOTES
100th Start for Bayne
Bayne will make his 100th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start on Sunday afternoon. In 99 previous starts, Bayne has recorded one victory, the 2011 running of the Daytona 500. Upon taking the green flag Sunday, Bayne will become the 197th driver to start 100 NSCS races.
Bayne at Martinsville
Bayne makes his fourth career NSCS start at Martinsville Speedway this weekend.
In three previous starts at the famed Virginia short track, Bayne has recorded a best finish of 18th in the spring 2015 event.
Matt Puccia at Martinsville
Puccia will call his 10th NSCS event at Martinsville on Sunday. In nine previous races at the paper-clip shaped oval, Puccia has recorded a best finish of ninth twice with Roush Fenway Racing teammate Greg Biffle in both the spring and fall of 2013.
Recapping Fontana
Bayne ran inside the top 15 for much of the afternoon at Auto Club Speedway before a flat right-rear tire following contact with the outside retaining wall relegated the AdvoCare Ford with a 20th-place finish.
QUOTE WORTHY
Bayne on racing at Martinsville:
“Martinsville can be a fun track. There’s always a lot of beating and banging that goes on and you can find yourself up the hill or backwards at any second. It really makes you stay on your toes. We ran pretty well here last spring with the AdvoCare Ford and hopefully we can keep our nose clean and build off of how good our car was in Fontana on Sunday.”
