Roush Fenway Racing Ready to Race in New Hampshire
CONCORD, NC (July 13, 2016) – Roush Fenway Racing heads to Loudon this weekend to race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) where it has been no stranger to success. Roush Fenway will be going for its eighth win in Loudon in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NCSC), , while the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) drivers look for the team’s second win at the track.
Roush Fenway’s first race at NHMS in 1993 started strong with Mark Martin winning the pole. Martin led 28 laps and ended up finishing second in an exciting race. Martin also won the pole in 1995, but the win evaded him again as he finished third.
Roush Fenway finally visited victory lane in 1997, when Jeff Burton won after starting in 15th. Burton continued his success at NHMS by holding off teammate Mark Martin to win the following year. From 1997 to 2000, Burton won four times at NHMS, finishing his run off with a dominating performance in 2000 where he led all 300 laps.
After a four-year drought, Kurt Busch brought Roush Fenway back to its winning ways in Loudon when he swept both races in 2004. Matt Kenseth also finished top-five in both races that season.
Roush Fenway’s most recent win came in 2008 when Greg Biffle took home the checkered flag for the first time at NHMS. His teammate, Carl Edwards, finished third in the same race that year.
Since the 2008 win, Roush Fenway drivers have had many close calls including 11 top-10 finishes and three top-five finishes.
The NXS will take the green flag on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on NBCSN, while the NSCS rolls off on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
