Roush Remembers NASCAR Truck Series Honors
CONCORD, N.C. (May 18, 2018) – The NASCAR Truck Series is back and preparing for 201 miles at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. Two-time NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee Jack Roush has no entries for Saturday night’s race, having left the series after the 2009 season. However, at the time of Roush Fenway Racing’s last truck race, the NASCAR legend was the winningest in the series.
Roush’s teams totaled 50 wins, 45 pole awards, 20 top-five finishes, 360 top-10’s and led over 6,086 laps in the Truck series. The owner also has one NASCAR Truck championship with Greg Biffle in 2000.
“We had some good times in the Truck Series,” said Roush who fielded 712 NASCAR Truck entries in 15 seasons. “It was a great series for a young driver to cut his teeth in the sport and provided from some really fierce racing. We have a lot of great memories from the series, had some great successes and look back on those days with great pride.”
The team first turned laps in the 1995 Truck season with Todd Bodine and Ted Musgrave. However, NASCAR Hall of Famer Mark Martin is the driver who secured Roush’s first trip to Victory Lane in the series in 1996 at North Wilkesboro. Martin led 73 of 250 laps to take the checkered flag after starting the race in the outside pole position.
While Roush is proud of all team accomplishments in the NCWTS, his favorite may be the 50th and final win. Colin Braun brought on the milestone at Michigan in 2009. The driver piloted the No. 6 Ford to the checkered flag after starting 12th and leading 26 laps.
Roush Fenway Racing returns to the track in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race on Saturday night at 6 p.m. EST on FOX Sports 1.
