Biffle Finishes 14th In No. 16 Cheez-It Ford At Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 8, 2015) – Greg Biffle drove his No. 16 Cheez-It Ford Fusion to a 14th-place finish Sunday afternoon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Biffle started 16th and searched for front turn most of the race, but continuously logged solid lap times, even held off a hard charging race leader to finish on the lead lap. The 14th-place finish moves Biffle up to 11th in the point standings.
“Handling was a battle today,” said Biffle. “We were clinging to that lead lap all day long and trying to play some strategy there. At the end of the day I don’t think anybody had anything for the No. 4 today. I am definitely proud of the No. 16 team. They worked hard today to get all we could out there. We still have some work to do.”
Biffle started 16th and despite being a little tight worked his way up to 14th by the time the competition caution came out on lap 25. Crew chief Matt Puccia called for a four tire stop, while some people gambled with two tires. Biffle restarted 18th and from there the tight handling condition continued, despite wedge and air pressure adjustments on the previous stop.
Multiple adjustments were made throughout the race to help with front turn, all of which made small gains but by the end weren’t quite enough. Biffle dodged all six cautions during the 267-lap race to hold off the hard-charging race winner Kevin Harvick to stay on the lead lap and finish 14th. The finish moves Biffle up to 11th in the point standings moving into the fourth race of the season at Phoenix International Raceway.
