Riding with Ryan
American Diabetes Association® representative and diabetes advocate Larry Lukin will ‘ride’ along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during this weekend’s race. The Greater Philadelphia area native will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Ford Mustang.
Like Reed, Lukin lives with diabetes and knows the importance of staying healthy to manage his diabetes. Through working with his doctor, eating healthy and exercising, Lukin successfully lives with diabetes and is an advocate for those who also live with the disease. Lukin helps raise awareness and funds for diabetes through his participation in the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure® cycling event, which he has been involved with since 2011. This weekend in Dover, Lukin and his son will have the opportunity to meet Reed and watch the race from atop the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association pit box.
Talladega Recap
Reed finished 31st at Talladega Superspeedway on April 30th after leading eight laps and getting caught up in an incident on Lap 83 while running 19th.
2016 Season
Reed is currently tenth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings. He has led eight laps so far this season and has an average finish of 16.8.
Reed on Dover
“It will be interesting to see how the heat races play out this weekend since our last two attempts have been on true short tracks. Since Dover isn’t as much of a short track, I think guys will take more chances in the heat races to get in position for the Dash 4 Cash bonus. As for us, we see this as an opportunity to rebound from a couple of tough weeks. With the off week, we had some extra time to prepare this car and should be ready to fight for a top-10 finish.”
Local Connection
Rear Tire Changer for the No. 16 team, Cory Baldwin, calls Dover his home track. Baldwin grew up a little over an hour from Dover in Severn, Md. and attended his first NASCAR race at the track when he was a kid.
Meet Ryan
Reed and teammate Bubba Wallace will sign autographs for fans at the Fanatics Trackside Superstore at Dover International Speedway on Friday, May 13th from 3:15-3:45 p.m. ET.
Tune-in
Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Dover International Speedway on Saturday, May 14th at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX and MRN.
