Bayne Finishes 40th At The Brickyard
SPEEDWAY, Ind. (July 26, 2015) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, finished 40th on Sunday afternoon in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“We worked at it from the drop of the green,” said Bayne after the race. “Today just wasn’t our day with the AdvoCare Ford. But it’s on to Pocono next week where hopefully we can run well like we did in the spring.”
Bayne took the green flag in the 22nd running of the Brickyard 400 from the 33rd position and immediately reported to crew chief Bob Osborne that the AdvoCare Ford was very tight through the corners. This tight handling condition persisted throughout the 164-lap event, ultimately leading to Bayne falling off of the lead lap.
The Knoxville, Tenn. native continued to battle despite the handling condition but had to head to pit road for repairs following contact with the No. 43 on the track, forcing Bayne into the outside retaining wall. Following the repairs, the Roush Fenway Racing driver would return to the track for the final 20 laps to gain as much track position as possible.
In the closing stages, an incident in between turns one and two forced the driver of the AdvoCare Ford to go behind the wall, ultimately leading to a 40th-place finish.
Next up for the NSCS is Pocono Raceway on Sunday, Aug. 2, where earlier this season Bayne won the ARCA Racing Series race and finished 24th in the NSCS event.
