ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Daytona

At his last appearance at Daytona International Speedway (DIS), Reed captured his first career win in the NASCAR XFINITY Series.

Reed also competed at DIS twice in 2014, resulting in an 18th– and a 24th-place finish in the February and July races, respectively.

Reed and Restrictor Plates

Reed has led 43 laps on the restrictor plate tracks of Daytona and Talladega Superspeedway. He led 29 laps at Talladega in 2014 and 14 laps at Daytona in February, where he would go on to win the race.

Reed’s best qualifying efforts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series are at restrictor plate tracks. He started from the fourth position in 2014 in both Talladega’s May race and Daytona’s July race.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association® Youth Ambassador Hannah Jordan will ride along with Ryan Reed this weekend at DIS. The Sarasota, Fla. native will have her name featured on a decal above the passenger-side door on the No. 16 Ford Mustang. Jordan, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2013, races for a cure as Reed does, but through her participation in the yearly American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure® cycling event. The 11-year-old also created a website called Carb Crunching Kids to provide diabetes resources and encouragement for other kids living with the disease.

Chicagoland Recap

Reed finished 12th at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday, June 21 after starting 14th and fighting the handling of the car for the majority of the race.

Reed also competed in the ARCA Racing Series event at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday, June 20 where he took home the win for Lira Motorsports in the No. 58 Lilly Diabetes Lira Motorsports Ford Fusion.

2015 Season

Reed is currently ninth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings after one win and nine top-15 finishes. He and teammate Chris Buescher are the only XFINITY Series regulars to win a race so far this season.

Reed on Daytona

“I will always be excited to head back to Daytona after getting my first win there in February. Our cars are traditionally fast at restrictor plate tracks so hopefully we will be racing with our teammates for the win again come Saturday night. It would be so amazing to sweep the season at Daytona in the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang and that’s just what we intend to do.”

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from DIS on Saturday, July 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network and MRN.
