ADVANCE NOTES
Bayne at Charlotte
Bayne makes his sixth career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.
Bayne’s best finish in the NSCS at Charlotte is 16th in May of 2013 after starting from the 29th position.
In seven career starts in the XFINTIY Series at the 1.5-mile oval, Bayne has recorded one top-five, five top-10s and has an average finish of 9.4. His best finish of third came in the Oct. 2011 event.
Bob Osborne at Charlotte
Osborne will call his 18th NSCS race at Charlotte this weekend. In 17 previous starts, Osborne has recorded four top-fives and eight top-10s. His best finish of third came twice with former Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards in May 2005 and Oct. 2011.
“600 Miles of Remembrance”
Bayne and the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford will participate in “600 Miles of Remembrance” on Memorial Day Weekend to honor military service members and their families.
For this weekend, the name of Staff Sgt. Casey Crate will be placed atop the windshield of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford.
Staff Sgt. Crate was born in Spanaway, Washington and enlisted in the Air Force in 1998, earning the coveted red beret of a combat controller in 2002. This mission was also part of his first operational deployment to Afghanistan and Iraq. While serving overseas, he synchronized airpower operations as the sole Special Tactics Joint Terminal Attack Controller assigned to an Army Special Forces team. He facilitated all long-range communications between special operations patrol teams and the command and control elements, integrating air power to enable mission success on the ground. Staff Sgt. Crate was killed in a landing zone and survey mission in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in eastern Diyala province, Iraq. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor posthumously.
Recapping All-Star Weekend
Bayne earned a seventh-place finish in the Sprint Showdown on Friday evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway after starting from the 15th position.
QUOTE WORTHY
Bayne on racing in Charlotte:
“Racing at Charlotte on Memorial Day weekend is always special. It’s great to get the chance to race in front of your friends and family. This weekend is also a huge honor for this AdvoCare team, as we have the name of Staff Sgt. Casey Crate atop the windshield. It definitely means a lot to have his name on the car and hopefully we will have a great run for him this weekend.”
