Bayne Finishes 31st in Martinsville
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Nov. 1, 2015) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, recorded a 31st-place result on Sunday afternoon in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Martinsville Speedway after an unscheduled pit stop under green cost the Roush Fenway Racing driver valuable track position.
“We’ll move past this today and be ready to close out strong,” said Bayne after the race. “Today was just a series of situations that resulted in bad luck for this AdvoCare team but we will rebound and try to finish these last three races on a positive note.”
Bayne took the green and yellow flag from the 32nd position but was able to quickly improve to 27th when the race officially went green on Lap 8. In the early stages of the 500-Lap event, Bayne reported to crew chief Bob Osborne that the AdvoCare Ford lacked grip rolling through the corners. This handling condition worsened as the run went on and cost Bayne a lap to the race leaders just prior to the Lap 50 competition caution.
On the ensuing restart following the competition caution, Bayne reported that he had a vibration on the right-side and was forced to make an unscheduled pit stop on Lap 79 for a loose wheel. The Knoxville, Tenn. native returned to the track in the 40th position following the stop.
Throughout the remainder of the race, Bayne would battle to try to regain as much track position as he could, racing his way up to the 29th position before a flat left-rear tire led to another unscheduled pit stop under green with 13 laps remaining in the event.
In the end, Bayne would ultimately be scored with a 31st-place finish.
Next up for the NSCS is Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, Nov. 8.
