Biffle Drives No. 16 Roush Performance Ford to a 13th-Place Finish in Atlanta
HAMPTON, Ga. (Feb. 28, 2016) – Greg Biffle drove his No. 16 Roush Performance Ford to a 13th-place finish Sunday afternoon at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Biffle started the race 14th, but a tight handling condition and long green flag runs cost the team valuable track position.
Biffle started the race 14th and lost some ground after contact with the outside wall due to tire wear and a loose handling Ford. The contact tightened his car up, but the field wouldn’t see a caution until over 200 laps into the race. Tire wear was a factor for everyone which led to different pit strategies.
The team gave Biffle wedge and air pressure adjustments during green flag stops, but the No. 16 Roush Performance Ford developed a tight handling condition over the middle part of the race. The handling challenges combined with the long green flag runs put Biffle two laps down to the leaders.
A caution with three laps to go set the field up for over time and Biffle took the “wave around” and got back one of his lost laps. Biffle was ahead of the last lap wreck that collected many others and was able to cross the finish line 13th, the first car one lap down.
