One Year Ago at Kentucky
Biffle started 27th based on the first practice session due to rain and in the early stages of the race had a fast Ford, but as the track rubbered up his handling faded. Multiple changes kept Biffle on the lead lap the entire 267 laps, coming home 16th.
Biffle on Kentucky:
“The key to success at Kentucky is going to be survival. With any track repave the very first race there are a lot of unknowns. We were fortunate to test there. It’s going to be tough to get that second lane to come in but I think it’s going to. So pushing the groove up the track on a brand new surface is going to be key.”
Q: What did you think of the track after the test?
Biffle: “Turns One and Two are quite a bit different. It’s got more banking. Three and Four are still pretty flat, difficult entry and then it’s got that progressive banking as you exit. Widening out that entry into three is where a lot of guys struggled during the test.”
Q: What’s the hardest part of the track?
Biffle: “It’s probably the turn Three and Four entry. It’s just difficult to get down in the corner and get enough turn in it, kind of arc it in there, but that tends to be the difficult part. The track is much smoother, has a lot of grip and a nice smooth surface.”
