Cindric Scores 23rd-Place Finish in Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 9, 2018) – In a delayed and eventually rain-shortened race at Michigan, Austin Cindric found himself inside the top-five multiple times before bringing his LTi Printing Ford Mustang home 23rd after 91 of the scheduled 125 laps.

In his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series start at the two-mile speedway, Cindric came through the field from a 29th starting spot in a race that featured a plethora of fuel-mileage strategy, and avoiding impending rain. The Mooresville, North Carolina, native gained 10 spots in the opening stage to sit 19th at the conclusion of stage one.

After a caution at lap 37, the No. 60 stayed on track and gained valuable track position as Cindric restarted fifth at lap 37. Just a few laps later, after getting shuffled back a few spots, Cindric pitted for fuel only and would restart 30th with 11 to go in the stage.

Just six laps later, Cindric had improved 11 positions and restarted 10th for a one-lap shootout to the end of the stage, where he would finish seventh to earn valuable stage points. He went on to work his way inside the top-five, restarting fifth at lap 65, before getting caught up in an accident on lap 72.

After losing a lap, the No. 60 team would get it back just a few laps later and continued working on damage to the car. The final restart came at lap 87 with Cindric restarting 28th, before working his way up five spots before the rain set in at lap 91 officially ending the race.

The No. 60 returns to the track June 17 at Iowa Speedway. Race coverage begins at 5 p.m. ET on FS1 and MRN.
