Cindric’s day ends early at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
LAS VEGAS (March 3, 2018) – Austin Cindric rolled off the grid in 14th for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, the driver’s day at the track came to an end in the final stage of the race No. 60 Pirtek Ford Mustang spun out coming off of turn four while battling for position just outside the top 10. The damage was too extensive to repair and as a result, Cindric took home a 34th-place result.
“We had a pretty good Ford today, but you live and learn, and we will move on to Phoenix,” Cindric said. “I hate to have two races with these guys in the 60 and not bring a car home. That will be my focus, get some experience and learn. We did learn some things that hopefully we can bring back here for the playoffs.”
Cindric spent the majority of the first two stages knocking on the door of the top-10. In Stage 1, he radioed that is car was tight midway into the end of a run. After finishing Stage 1 in 13th, the No. 60 team pitted for an air pressure change, four tires and fuel.
The adjustment seemed to be working well into Stage 2, however, but the tight condition of the car returned. Cindric finished the stage in 14th and the team went to work with the competition caution at Lap 93. After pitting for a chassis adjustment, fuel, four tires and another air pressure Cindric restarted the final stage in 14th.
Cindric was able to jump two positions by Lap 111 and was running 12th for the majority of the stage. With 67 laps to go, Cindric and teammate Ryan Reed attempted to go three-wide in lap traffic. Cindric car lost traction and spun into the inside wall causing a caution and ending his day early.
The driver returns to action in the historic No. 60 Ford Mustang on March 10 at ISM Raceway.
