Diabetes Awareness Ambassador Kenny Talley to ‘Ride’ with Ryan Reed in Texas

p605791308-4

CONCORD, N.C. (Oct. 31, 2016) – Drive to Stop DiabetesSM representative Kenny Talley will “ride” along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.  Talley will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association® Ford Mustang as part of the joint campaign to spread awareness and education about diabetes.

Like Reed, Talley has diabetes and knows the importance of staying healthy to manage the disease.  By working with his doctor, eating healthy and exercising, Talley is able to live well with diabetes and is an inspiration for others affected by it.

“My message to people is to eat healthy and exercise,” said Talley.  “This is especially true for those of us who don’t have physically active jobs.  Make sure you periodically get your blood sugar checked and take the American Diabetes Association’s Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test to find out if you are at risk.”

Talley is a part of the Dallas Fort Worth Community Leadership Board and will be the chairman in 2017.  Through his current role on the board, Talley works to inform people about diabetes and its impacts.  In addition, Talley has led his company’s participation in Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes®, one of the American Diabetes Association’s signature fundraising events.

“I love the work that Kenny is doing for the American Diabetes Association,” said Reed.  “It’s clear that he’s passionate about helping people who have diabetes, which is why it’s great to see his hard work recognized.”

Reed and the “Riding with Ryan” program roll into Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for the second time this season.  Earlier this season, Reed finished 14th at the 1.5-mile track.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series takes the green flag from Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
