Jack Roush And The Tennessee-7 Look To Bring Lightening To “Thunder Valley”

It’s 800 laps to Graceland this weekend as Roush Fenway Racing heads through the Cumberland Gap to Johnson City, Tenn. for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Bristol Motor Speedway, a track that has seen a Roush Fenway Ford visit Victory Lane 18 times.

Roush Fenway has called Victory Lane at Bristol home in all three of NASCAR’s major divisions, including 11 NSCS wins. In addition, RFR has five wins at Bristol in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) and two wins in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS).

Roush Fenway’s history at Bristol began on April 10, 1988 with the No. 6 NSCS car earning a second-place finish. Since that time, in addition to the organization’s 11 NSCS wins at the track, Roush Fenway Fords have finished second at Bristol on 14 occasions (6 NSCS, 4 NXS, 4 NCWTS), including Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in this race last season (NSCS).

 

Bristol One-Two Punch

Roush Fenway Ford’s swept the top two spots on the podium in this race last year with former driver Carl Edwards taking the victory and Stenhouse coming home in second. Edwards led the final 78 laps of the event to earn the victory.

 

Bristol’s Victory Lane is the Only Ten-We-See

Roush Fenway’s history at Bristol has been that of hot streaks, inlcuding trips to Victory Lane in 10 of the last 14 seasons as the famed short track. Roush Fenway swept the track in 2003 and put a NSCS car in Victory Lane at least once in every season from 2002-2008 at “The Last Great Coliseum.”

Roush Fenway has started 187 NSCS races at Bristol, recording a total of 11 victories, 46 top-five finishes, 80 top-10 finishes, an average finish of 15.9 and has led 3,390 laps. Edwards earned Roush Fenway’s most recent victory at the .533-mile oval.

 

Thunder Rolls 

Roush Fenway has earned five victories, 22 top-five finishes, 34 top-10 finishes and an average finish of 14.2 at Bristol in the XFINITY Series. Former Roush Fenway driver David Ragan earned the organization’s most recent XFINITY victory at the .533-mile short track in the Aug. 2009 event.

 

Drive to Stop Diabetes 300

For the second consecutive season, Lilly Diabetes will be the presenting sponsor of the spring XFINITY Series race at Bristol and the Drive to Stop Diabetes 300.

 

Roush Fenway to Support Steve Byrnes at Bristol

All three of Roush Fenway’s NSCS Fords will carry the name of Fox Sports reporter Steve Byrnes in place of the driver’s names this weekend at Bristol. In additon BMS has joined in the supporting, changing the name of Sunday’s race to the Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes.
