Newman Finishes 14th at Darlington
Darlington, S.C. (Sept. 5, 2021) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Ryan Newman drove his Bologna-themed No. 6 Oscar Mayer Ford to a 14th-place finish in Sunday night’s 500-mile Cup race at the famed Darlington Speedway.
Battling a grueling track and extremely tight-handling race car, Newman hovered around the top 15 for most of the race. The team was forced to pit with a worn tire on lap 267, which placed them on a pit stop cycle requiring three stops to the finish.
The strategy appeared to have back fired after an untimely caution on lap 318, but Newman was able to take the wave around and after another quick caution was able to come down pit road for four fresh tires.
From there the veteran was able to move on to his third top 15-place finish in the last four races.
