Roush Fenway No. 17 Team Looks To Rebound In Texas
FORT WORTH, Tx. (March 30, 2019) – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished 25th, two laps down last week at Martinsville Speedway. After a rough weekend, crew chief Brian Pattie and the No. 17 team are ready to take on the next race at Texas.
“Martinsville was a grueling 498 laps for us,” Pattie told SiriusXM’s Claire B. Lang. “It was a struggle for all of our cars and definitely not what we expected. Monday was a day of meetings and our focus now is turned to Texas.”
Last year at Texas, Stenhouse was penalized with an uncontrolled tire, forcing the driver to serve a pass-thru penalty and lose a lap to the leaders. Stenhouse rallied, picking up multiple positions in the closing laps to take the checkered flag in 11th. If the race goes anything like last year’s, Stenhouse will be back in contention.
“I love Texas,” Pattie said. “It’s a great place to go. The atmosphere is cool, the track is fast and it helps when Ricky likes it. We had a good race here last fall, actually came back from a penalty to finish 11th in the fall. We’re working hard on everything from car prep to driver focus and attitude. It’s a total effort.”
Newman and Stenhouse return to the track this Sunday, March 31 at Texas Motor Speedway at 3 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
