Roush Fenway Racing Aims to Maintain Winning Ways at Iowa Speedway
CONCORD, N.C. (June 16, 2016) – No team has dominated Iowa Speedway like Roush Fenway Racing. Since 2011, Roush Fenway has consistently turned in strong performances at the track in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS), highlighted by five wins from three different drivers.
“I always enjoy our stops at short tracks, as most of us grew up racing on short tracks and feel more comfortable here,” said Roush Fenway driver Ryan Reed. “Roush Fenway has a fantastic track record at Iowa Speedway, and I hope to be the next driver to pick up a win.”
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is Roush Fenway’s most successful driver at the track thanks to three straight wins, the first coming in May 2011. Stenhouse then completed the season sweep in August, after taking the lead on Lap 229. The two wins highlighted the first of Stenhouse’s back-to-back NXS championship seasons.
Upon returning to Iowa Speedway in 2012, Stenhouse picked up right where he left off, collecting his third consecutive win at the track. He found victory lane in dominant fashion, leading for 209 out of 250 laps.
Roush Fenway continued the winning tradition in June 2013 at the DuPont Pioneer 250. After starting 14th, Trevor Bayne raced his way to the front. Bayne captured the lead for good on Lap 239, marking his first win of the 2013 season.
Chris Buescher was the latest driver to celebrate in victory lane at Iowa, after a dramatic “overtime” finish saw Buescher take the lead on Lap 258. With the win, Buescher took over the lead in the points standings, en route to winning the NXS championship.
Roush Fenway has made 32 starts at Iowa Speedway in the NXS, earning five wins, two poles and 10 top-fives. The team has also brought home 16 top-10 finishes, while leading 588 laps.
The NXS will take the green flag for the American Ethanol E15 250 Presented by Enogen on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
