Roush Madness Day 3 Recap
CONCORD, N.C, (March 19, 2020) – Day three of Roush Madness is in the books as all but one seed held in the Concord, North Carolina, region, and will move on to the round of 32.
The Two C’s Advance
Carl (Edwards) and Chris (Buescher) made their way into the round of 32 by way of their defeats over Bye and Brian Ickler, respectively. It was a tough matchup for the No. 1 seed Edwards, the 28-time winner in the Cup Series, as No. 5 Buescher handled No. 12 Ickler with ease, 89-11.
Stuntman Stanton Sinks Bown
No. 9 Stanton Barrett was the lone driver to pull an upset in the Concord region, taking down No. 8 Chuck Bown handily, 76-24.
Darnell Dishes Defeat to Woods
No. 4 Erik Darnell, a winner of two career Xfinity Series races with 95 starts in NASCAR’s three major touring series, handled No. 13 Tim Woods with ease, 77-23.
Not Even McClose
No. 3 seed Jamie McMurray and No. 7 Paul Menard had the largest blowouts of day three, as McMurray topped No. 14 seed Joey Clanton 93-7. McMurray, a 16-time winner in NASCAR, made 168 starts for Jack Roush in the No. 26 machine. Menard, who made 35 starts for Roush, also defeated No. 10 Chuck Hossfeld, 94-6.
Benson Bests Townley
No. 6 seed Johnny Benson, otherwise known as JB2, handled No. 11 seed John Wes Townley, otherwise known as JWT, 77-23.
