STENHOUSE AND FIFTH THIRD BANK STAND UP TO CANCER WITH SPECIAL PAINT SCHEME

July 6, 2016 (Concord, NC) – Fifty-three names of brave individuals who are currently fighting or have fought a battle with cancer will be featured on the No. 17 Fifth Third Ford for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Kentucky Speedway this weekend.

A longtime supporter of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), Fifth Third Bank, in partnership with Ricky Stenhouse Jr.,  reached out to NASCAR fans asking them to #StandUpwithRicky and honor a friend or family member who has fought or is in the fight against cancer by sharing their story.  For every story shared with the hashtag #StandUpwithRicky, Fifth Third Bank made a donation to Stand Up To Cancer up to $20,000.

“I’m honored to be a part of this campaign to raise funds and awareness for a great cause,” said Stenhouse. “I don’t know anyone whose life has not been affected by cancer in one way or another.  This car has 53 names on it, but it represents millions fighting the battle every day.”

In addition to the money donated during the #StandUpwithRicky campaign, Fifth Third will be donating $530  for every lap Stenhouse makes at the Quaker State 400 race.  Fifth Third will also continue its #howifight campaign through December 31.  From running a 10K to bringing dinner to a neighbor fighting cancer, Fifth Third is encouraging everyone to share how they fight using #howifight. Fifth Third Bank will donate $1 per eligible hashtag usage to Stand Up To Cancer up to $500,000. Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) raises funds to accelerate the pace of research to get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in 2008 by film and media leaders who utilize the industry’s resources to engage the public in supporting a new, collaborative model of cancer research, and to increase awareness about progress being made in the fight against the disease.
