ADVANCE NOTES
Stenhouse Jr. at Sonoma Raceway
Stenhouse Jr. has two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Sonoma Raceway with an average starting position of 30.5 and average finishing position of 29.0.
Last year, Stenhouse Jr. competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Sonoma Raceway where he started on the outside pole and finished fourth after suffering a flat tire.
One Year Ago at Sonoma
In only his second career Sprint Cup start at the 1.99-mile 11-turn road course, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was running solidly in the top-20 before being involved in two accidents, forcing him to settle for a 31st-place finish.
In the Points
Stenhouse Jr. currently sits 28th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings with 11 races remaining until the Chase.
Fastenal
Fastenal is currently in its fourth season as a primary partner in the NSCS for Roush Fenway. They spent three years on the No. 99 before jumping over to the No. 17 entry, and were the primary partner on the No. 60 XFINITY team that captured the owner’s championship in 2011.
Stenhouse Jr. on racing at Sonoma:
“Last year we had a decent car at Sonoma but got caught up in two accidents so hopefully we can keep our Fastenal Ford clean and leave Sonoma with a decent finish. Seat time is very valuable for me at road courses since I don’t have a ton of experience on them. I definitely feel more comfortable after making a couple of starts there so I’m confident that we can leave Sonoma with a solid finish.”
Sandler on racing at Sonoma:
“Our road course cars have been solid in the past. Sonoma usually comes down to fuel mileage and pit strategy which we were successful at last year. Ricky has really improved at Sonoma over the years. If we can keep our Fastenal Ford on the track for the duration of the race and execute on pit road with pit strategy and our pit stops, I’m certain we can leave Sonoma with a strong finish.”
