Success Has Been “Big” For Jack Roush’s Team in Texas
FT. WORTH, Texas (April 7, 2017) – This weekend the NASCAR circuit and Jack Roush return to one of Roush Fenway Racing’s most successful venues; Texas Motor Speedway. Perhaps the second most successful “JR” in Dallas, Roush’s teams were strong from the get-go at the 1.5-mile track, sweeping both the inaugural XFINITY and Cup races with Mark Martin and Jeff Burton in 1997.
“Texas has always been a great track for us,” said Roush, whose dominance at the track earned him an induction into the Texas Motor Speedway Hall of Fame in 2013. “It’s a track that particularly suited our driver’s and team’s strengths and we were able to realize great results from the start with Mark and Jeff and then throughout the years with a great majority of our lineup.”
All-in-all Roush’s teams have powered their way to NASCAR victory lane on 18 occasions in the “Lone Star” state; including nine times in the Cup Series with five different drivers, while leading more than 3,400 laps and driving to 125 top-10 finishes.
A total of seven drivers have won at Texas, which became known as the “House of Roush,” in Roush Fenway Fords, including current drivers Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Trevor Bayne.
In 2008, Roush Fenway swept both Cup races at Texas, with former driver Carl Edwards leading 335 laps across both events. Roush Fenway has led 2,514 laps in Cup action alone at Texas. Four different drivers have won for Roush Fenway across multiple NASCAR platforms, with all four having posted at least three NASCAR wins at the track. Roush’s Cup victory total is more than double the next-closest owner.
Roush will have a couple of chances to add to his lofty accomplishments this weekend, with both the NASCAR XFINFITY Series and Cup Series in action on Saturday and Sunday.
