Texas a Special Place for Bayne
CONCORD, N.C. (April 6, 2016) – For Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing, Texas Motor Speedway has always been a special track on the NASCAR schedule
“I really love going to Texas,” said Bayne. “It has been such an important track for my career. We made our first Cup start here and won our first XFINITY race. It really motivates you to do well when you have a history at a track like I have here.”
Bayne began his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) career at the 1.5-mile oval in Fort Worth, Texas on Nov. 7, 2010 piloting the No. 21 Ford Fusion for The Wood Brothers. The then 19-year old took the green flag that afternoon from the 28th position and recorded a 17th-place finish.
The firsts did not stop there for the Knoxville, Tenn. native. On Nov. 5, 2011, Bayne drove the No. 16 Ford Mustang for Roush Fenway Racing to his first career NASCAR XFINITY Series win, leading the final six laps and outdueling drivers Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards.
In addition to on-track significance, Texas is a special track for Bayne due to the fact that the primary sponsor of the No. 6 Ford – AdvoCare – is headquartered roughly 45 miles away from the Texas Motor Speedway in Plano, Tx.
“Getting to race in AdvoCare’s backyard is definitely something I look forward to each year,” added Bayne. “It really provides an extra incentive knowing that AdvoCare is based so close to here. Hopefully we will make them proud on Saturday night.”
The NSCS takes the green flag at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 9, at 7:30pm EST on FOX, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
