Top-10 Finish for Wallace in Phoenix
AVONDALE, Ariz. (Nov. 14, 2015) – Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Ford Mustang, earned an eighth-place finish on Saturday afternoon in the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Phoenix International Raceway, his 13th top-10 of the 2015 season.
“This was a better run for us here in Phoenix,” said Wallace after the race. “I can’t thank Ford enough for giving me a great car and for my team for preparing it the way they did. We are learning on these things and we’re growing together, so Homestead should be fun for us.”
Wallace took the green flag from the 10th position and consistently ran inside the top 10 throughout the early stages of the 200-Lap event, improving to as high as the seventh position before hitting pit road for the first time during a Lap 57 caution period. During that stop, crew chief Seth Barbour made a chassis adjustment to alleviate a tight-handling condition.
Returning to the track in the 10th position, Wallace was again able to race his way up to the seventh position and maintained that track position until the caution came out once again on Lap 111. After pitting for four tires and another chassis adjustment, the driver of the No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Ford took the ensuing restart from the eighth position.
In the closing stages, Wallace maintained his top-10 track position as long green flag runs dominated the second-half of the afternoon. In the end, Wallace was able to bring his Roush Fenway Racing Ford home with an eighth-place finish.
Next up for the NASCAR XFINITY Series is the 2015 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 21.
