Wallace Earns Top-10 in Season Finale at Homestead
HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Nov. 21, 2015) – Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 6 Roush Performance Ford Mustang, recorded a 10th-place finish on Saturday afternoon in the 2015 season finale of the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway, his 14th top-10 of the year.
“I want to thank everyone on my team,” said Wallace after the race. “I’m really appreciative of all of the hard work they put in this season. We learned a ton throughout the course of the year. I want to thank (owner) Jack (Roush) and everyone at Roush Fenway as well. Hope everyone enjoys the offseason and we’ll be ready to go come Daytona.”
Wallace began the 200-Lap event from the 21st position but wasted little time moving forward, racing his way into the top 15 following a Lap 25 competition caution. Despite being in the top 15, Wallace reported to crew chief Seth Barbour that the No. 6 Roush Performance Ford needed more overall grip in order to make better time through the corners. This handling condition ultimately led to Wallace falling one-lap-down to the race leaders as the long green flag run proceeded.
Although off of the lead lap, Wallace never gave up and battled his way into the 12th position after racing with Roush Fenway teammate and 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Champion Chris Buescher. An opportune caution on Lap 172 allowed crew chief Barbour to make a strategy call for Wallace to take the wave around and back onto the lead lap. The strategy call worked as Wallace was able to take the Lap 178 restart in the 11th position.
In the closing stages, Wallace raced his way into the top 10 and took the checkered flag for the final time in 2015 in the 10th position.
Next up for the NASCAR XFINITY Series is the 2016 season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.
